Irregular Pap Smears

Irregular pap smears that result in ASCUS require further cone biopsy diagnositics using a LEEP procedure or excision. Atypical cells may disappear without any treatment as soon as the initial irritants (spermicides, douching, etc.) are removed. When treated, infections also relief inflammation and Papanicloua test results appear normal again. Some cases, though, may indicate true cancer, which calls for immediate treatment. ASCUS, LEEP Procedure

Aberrant cells that are often revealed during Papanicoulaou test do not necessarily mean you have cervical cancer. Changes in the cells differ in severity and very often are related to causes unconnected with malignant growth. This is the case with infections and irritants that make the cervical cells look abnormal. Irregular pap smears that result in ASCUS require further cone biopsy diagnositics using a LEEP procedure or excision.
