A Typical Pap Smear

  -

Colposcopy, Cervix

When a cytology finding is ascertained to have cells that deviate from the usual types found on the outermost epithelial lining of the cervix, it is considered abnormal. When the deviation is slight, the classification is considered as a level of least risk for cervical cancer. A typical pap smear will usually lead to having a colposcopy performed for a closer look at the cervix.
