Pap Smear Dysplasia




A result of pap smear dysplasia may indicate the presence of vulvar vestibulitis, causing cervical abnormalities. To determine if the cells are normal in size and shape, Papanicolaou test is used. It consists of taking a cell sample from the cervix and examining it under a microscope with interpretation of the results following. If abnormalities have been revealed in the cervix, a woman will receive treatment. A result of pap smear dysplasia may indicate the presence of vulvar vestibulitis, causing cervical abnormalities.

Usually, cells found in the cervix are round or flat. An overgrowth of non-organized cells in the cervix varies in severity depending on the amount of cervix area affected. The greater the overgrowth, the harder it is to cure the condition. A result of pap smear dysplasia may indicate the presence of vulvar vestibulitis, causing cervical abnormalities.
