If abnormalities have been revealed in the cervix, a woman will receive treatment. It consists of taking a cell sample from the cervix and examining it under a microscope with interpretation of the results following. To determine if the cells are normal in size and shape, Papanicolaou test is used. After a pap smear dysplasia has been detected it can be easily treated, as well as plantar wart, with cryosurgery.
