Pap Smear Abnormal
After a pap smear abnormal and additional tests, a cone biopsy and colposcopy are performed to make a proper diagnosis.
Irregular cytology findings do not necessarily mean that a woman has or will have cancer. Only 10 out of every 100 HPV infected women will be diagnosed with dysplasia and only one of those ten women with atypical cytology findings will have cancer of the invasive type.
After a pap smear abnormal and additional tests, a cone biopsy and colposcopy are performed to make a proper diagnosis.

A co-collection of HPV test sample may provide an advantage of avoiding additional clinical procedures. If testing for cervical abnormalities concludes that cellular irregularities exist, a physician may direct follow up procedures such as repeat tests, including colposcopy and cervical biopsy. After a pap smear abnormal and additional tests, a cone biopsy and colposcopy are performed to make a proper diagnosis.
