Irregular Pap Smear
Women who have irregular pap smear run a risk of developing abnormalities, as a pap smear can detect the problem on the early stage and treatment performed in a proper time can prevent urethritis, cervical cancer and other dangerous conditions.
But, if left untreated, over time mild dysplasia may progress to more severe forms of dysplasia and possible cancer. However, abnormal results do not mean that infection is recent, nor does it mean that cancer is imminent. HPV infected women are more likely to have abnormal cytology results.
