Irregular Pap Smear -
Cervix, Cervical Cancer
HPV infected women are more likely to have abnormal cytology results. However, abnormal results do not mean that infection is recent, nor does it mean that cancer is imminent. But, if left untreated, over time mild dysplasia may progress to more severe forms of dysplasia and possible cancer. Irregular pap smear results can mean an infected cervix or even cervical cancer.
