Ascus HPV
ASCUS HPV can progress to cervical cancer and be treated by cone biopsy in some cases.
Human papilloma virus is believed to have a major role in cervical dysplasia. Pap smears in which both these results are present are more likely to progress to a more severe grade of dysplasia. Most scientific investigators now believe that human papilloma virus causes dysplasia and cervical cancer.

Atypical Squamous Cells of Undetermined Significance and Human papilloma virus are what these acronyms represent. These terms may appear in a diagnosis from pap smear results meaning that abnormal squamous cells along with human papilloma virus are present in the specimen.
