Abnormal Pap

An abnormal pap can indicate risk factors for miscarriage and require a LEEP procedure. Irregular cytology findings do not necessarily mean that a woman has or will have cancer. Realistically, only 10 out of every 100 HPV infected women will be diagnosed with dysplasia and only one of those ten women with atypical cytology findings will have cancer of the invasive type. An abnormal pap can indicate risk factors for miscarriage and require a LEEP procedure.

Miscarriage, LEEP Procedure

Many women experience anxieties associated with anticipated results, which might show atypical cells. Medical clinicians are expected to manage these fears by balancing their knowledge of the cytological results with the patient's need to understand the serious nature of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia. An abnormal pap can indicate risk factors for miscarriage and require a LEEP procedure.
