Classification of ASCUS on a standard cytology report is subject to variance among interpreters. Regardless of which cytology method used, the opportunity to expose cellular anomalies and associated cancer-type HPV infections in its infancy is essential if treatment and prevention programs are to be effective.

Pap Result -
Vaginal Wart, HPV
The basis of a cytology reading is a matter of identifying the phases of cervical cellular evolution. Discovery of non-typical cells according to number and deviation from the norm determine reported findings. Deviations early in formation are generally classified as atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance (ASCUS). A positive Pap result may indicate a vaginal wart or HPV problem.
