Inconclusive Pap Smear
An inconclusive pap smear doesn't necessarily mean a urinary infection or cervical dysplasia is present.
Finding abnormalities earlier is a benefit while intervention is easier. Knowing the seriousness of a positive result and recognizing that progression to cancer occurs in a very small percentage of abnormal cases needs balance. Where HPV (only known cervical cancer source) testing is performed, adds assurance the results.

Considerable anxieties result for women when their cytology is returned from the lab with abnormal classification. A cytology with undetermined report may be affected the quality of the specimen gathered, preservation of the specimen, or the presence of certain cells that are not typical of cancer but that still appear unusual. An inconclusive pap smear doesn't necessarily mean a urinary infection or cervical dysplasia is present.
