Atypical Pap Smear Results
Atypical pap smear results will sometimes require cryosurgery, depending on severity, but won't help vaginitis.
ASCUS does not require any treatment unless the condition moves to another, more severe class. As a rule, a woman is advised to take another Papanicolaou test in 4-6 months. Up to 50% of changes disappear by this time. If not, colposcopy or other exams may be performed.

Earlier, only significant changes in the cells were considered abnormal. Nowadays, due to the risk of missing truly abnormal cells during microscopic examination all cells that display even minor changes or seem unusual are classified as irregular. Atypical pap smear results will sometimes require cryosurgery, depending on severity, but won't help vaginitis.
