Abnormal Cell Pap Smear
An abnormal cell pap smear reading can help determine whether urethritis or cervical dysplasia is present.
Frequently clinical analysis will vary among the interpreters of the cytology results. In one study, there appeared to be little agreement among interpretation of atypical cells of undetermined significance (ASCUS) results. In conclusion, quality assurance in cervical cytopathology may depend on HPV testing.

Abnormal Cell Pap Smear -
Urethritis, Cervical Dysplasia
When a cytology reading is concluded to be atypical, it is not a diagnosis of cancer. There are varied degrees of classifications from mild, moderate and severe dysplasia, to carcinoma in situ, and severe invasive cancer. The number and the level of cellular defect will determine the classification. An abnormal cell pap smear reading can help determine whether urethritis or cervical dysplasia is present.
